Interview with Manthos Politis

I am Giannis and this article is about a photographer whose work i came to admire through IG. My goal is for you to get to know the man behind the camera. I am so glad that he accepted my offer and ,therefore, became part of this small community.

I would like to introduce you Manthos

1) Tell us a few words about yourself so that people know you?

Hello, my name is Manthos. I am 23 years old and I live in Athens. I really like photography, which I started as a hobby, but for the last year I have been working professionally with it. In my free time, I like to play video games, go for walks, and generally like to travel.

2) What was it that made you get involved in photography and who was it that inspired you to get more involved?

I got involved with photography for the first time in 2016. My first camera was the Nikon d3300. The reason I got involved with photography is that photography has the power to keep a memory alive forever. As a person who forgets easily, photography not only helps me to keep my most important memories alive but also makes me want to create more through it. I have received a lot of influence through social media by seeing various photographers around the world express themselves and create beautiful photos that have an impact, and I wanted to create something beautiful like them too.

3) What is your biggest goal when it comes to photography? where do you want to reach?

My biggest goal is that I want to show different aspects of a place like for example my hometown Athens in a unique way and my photos to inspire and make the viewer get lost in the city and its magic as I get lost through my lens .

I would also like to be able to become widely known through my job and work with large companies.

4) What is your favorite style of photography and why and which technique do you like the most and why?

My favorite photography style is Urban, Landscape & car photography. As a technique I like to use framing a lot (Framing is a photography compositional technique that isolates a subject using elements within a scene as a frame.) as I consider that it gives very intense dynamics to the photographs and makes them more dramatic but also Panning shots.

5) What would you like to say to someone who is just starting photography, what first advice would you give?

To have fun while learning, to experiment with different styles and techniques, to give an opportunity to shots that do not seem interesting or he/she considers them insignificant because the final result may surprise him/her.

I feel really lucky that i have "met" Manolis through IG because i truly admire his work. Wish someday to meet him in person cos i believe he is a really nice personality and have fun time with photography.
