Interview with Nick Vasudev

Hello guys,hope you are well,

I am Giannis (@skg_edi) and this article is about a photographer whose work i came to admire through IG. My goal is for you to get to know the man behind the camera. I am so glad that he accepted my offer and ,therefore, became part of this small community.

Please let us know at the comments below your opinions its really helfpful to know your comments and feel free to follow us on our IG below.(click on our names)

I would like to introduce you NICK

1) Tell us a few words about yourself so that people know you?

Hi I am Nikhil, I was born in a small town in India and moved to pursue my Masters in Accounting in Australia. I got married here and my wife loves to travel and because of her love for travel, my love and passion for photography was ignited. We had travelled to 6 countries in a year just before covid and I used to take photos just with my mobile phone and then I decided that we cannot go out now so I will learn photography and just self taught myself.

2) What was it that made you get involved in photography and who was it that inspired you to get more involved?

Travelling has definitely made me love photography more as when you see new places everyone wants to capture them, but to capture them in a way that tells a story and inspires others to go there is what I like to capture and create. As I said my wife is my biggest supporter and inspiration for getting into photography as she was the one that took me to such beautiful locations.

3) What is your biggest goal when it comes to photography? where do you want to reach?

Lately I am loving taking portraits and not my biggest goal but for 2022 I want to really invest time and effort into taking beautiful portraits of people as the reaction you get from people when they look at your work and will remember that moment forever when you captured that special moment for them. So for 2022 I just want to grow my portrait business, capturing different moments in people’s lives.

4) What is your favorite style of photography and why and which technique do you like the most and why?

My favourite style would definitely be Street photography as in my opinion, street photography prepares you to capture those moments that are happening in front of you and reiterates a story to your audience. And when your audience sees your image, everyone might interpret it differently and I love that Street photography makes people think of what would have happened in that scene at that time. However, my favourite technique would have to be reflections as that fills the negative space in the photos and provides a totally different perspective to people than what they usually see.

5) What would you like to say to someone who is just starting photography, what first advice would you give?

To someone just starting out, First thing I would say is never get bogged down with Gear as gear does not make you a great photographer, it definitely helps showing different perspectives but will not instantly make you amazing. The more time you first spend on taking photographs of everything you like and then you will find a niche that you like and then you will also develop your own editing style. For example, I have just 2 lenses and have taken all my photographs using just those two lenses, it’s how you capture and edit them, that will make you unique and inspire others.

I feel really lucky that i have "met" NICK through IG because i truly admire his work. Wish someday to meet him in person cos i believe he is a really nice personality and have fun time with photography in Melbourne as this city is a dream for me to visit!!!

THANK YOU NICK
