Interview with Thibault Copenhagen Photographer

Hello guys,hope you are well,

I am Giannis and on this article we are going to read about a photograher i admire a lot on IG. My goal is you to see the man behind the camera and to know him a little bit more.I am so glad that he accept my offer and he is part of my small community.

I would like to introduce you Thibault

1) Tell us a few words about yourself so that people know you?

Hi! I am Thibault. I was born in Paris, but I moved at a very young age to Marseille in the south of France facing the Mediterranean Sea. It was there that my passion for the sea first sprang up in me and made me a sailor for years. It is during these periods of sailing and discovering the world that my passion for photography was born! I absolutely had to capture all these new fascinating and wonderful horizons!

2) What was it that made you get involved in photography and who was it that inspired you to get more involved?

I trained myself for many years (photography) while continuing to work on ships across the oceans. Travelling while working was no longer enough for me... So, to satisfy my passion for photography, I also started to travel by myself in my free time to take pictures.

Finally, after almost 20 years of working, I quit my job last year to dedicate myself to photography full time. I also left my country, France, and moved to Denmark with my wife.

3) What is your biggest goal when it comes to photography? where do you want to reach?

Have the opportunity to earn a living with photography and live from my passion. It's so cliché I know, I worked hard for years to give myself the opportunity to try the adventure. This is what I currently realize and it makes me happy every day.

At the artistic level, being an eternal dissatisfied, I would like to progress in certain areas in order to achieve better images. I am also working at the moment to carry out photographic projects that are close to my heart. (an exhibition scheduled for 2023 and an ebook in particular) Thibault

4) What is your favorite style of photography and why and which technique do you like the most and why?

I like a lot of different things when it comes to photography. I particularly like anything that is clean, minimalist, with guidelines. A heavy, dramatic atmosphere. An isolated subject, a look... The edition rather desaturated but with contrast. This kind of things ;)

It makes me feel emotions and share emotions. Isn't that the most important in photography.

I can't really define a particular technique to get the kind of image I just mentioned. Beyond knowing how to adjust your camera to obtain the desired result (depth, blur, bokeh, etc.), it is above all the eye that we must train in order to detect a scene that could give us satisfaction.

5) What would you like to say to someone who is just starting photography, what first advice would you give?

To define what we like and what we want to do! Not to focus on the gear. Then I would say that it is just as important to know how to control your device as your environment. Indeed, I would advise to train your eye to see the different scenes, to understand the light and the contrasts. And then practice practice practice and ... have fun of course :)

Me as Giannis i feel myself very lucky that i have met him at least through IG cos i admire his art and hope some day to visit Copenhagen and meet him in person.And as i told him if i visit Copenhagen he will be my tour guide and of course we are going to play with photography as we are both passionate with this art!
